SuperProNet

SuperProNet (USB)

If you are using a SuperProNet, then you should have already installed and configured the SuperProNet at the server according to the directions in the “Installation/Upgrade Guide for SIMS Server Version 6.12” manual.

Configuring the client workstation for finding the SuperProNet

If you are using a SuperProNet, then you need to edit the “SIMS.INI” file to configure the client to “find” the SuperProNet.  You can double-click the “SIMS.Ini” Notepad icon in the SIMS Client Program Group or open it using Windows Explorer.  The SIMS.Ini file is in the “\SIMS6\Client” folder.

Semicolons are “comment” indicators in the SIMS.Ini file.  Adjust the file as follows:

Add a line like shown above to set the IP address of the machine where the SuperProNet is attached (typically the SIMS Server).  The line should look something like this where “999.999.999.999” is replaced by your server’s IP address:

SuperProNetLocation=999.999.999.999

If SIMS fails to find a local SuperPro key on the client or standalone, then it will check the INI file to see if there is an address specified for the SuperProNet.  If there is, it will look for a key there.  If that fails it will then look for a Server SuperPro (if using a client) and then a NetSentinel.

You can also set a time out in case you want a license released for others to use after a set amount of inactivity by the user.  Time out is set in minutes, so to set a time out of 2 hours like this:

SuperProNetTimeOut=120

If a user does not doing anything within SIMS for 2 hours, then the license will be released.
